Jason
Simpson holds a BA and MAT in Foreign Languages (emphasis in
French) from Middle Tennessee State University. He began
working as a private tutor in 1997 and has completed extensive
coursework and training in foreign languages and pedagogy. He
has been employed at MTSU since 2001, first as a graduate
teaching assistant and currently as an adjunct instructor in
French. He also works at Sylvan Learning Center, teaching
reading, math and study skills and providing help for students
in high school and college language courses, including
Spanish, French and New Testament Greek.
In addition to his work at MTSU and Sylvan, Jason serves as
president of Oireas Media, a web-based company that offers
private and group language instruction, website design,
translation and other multimedia services. Oireas also
specializes in brain-compatible workshops and materials for
lesser-taught languages. In September 2006, the company
launched the world's only Gaelic course based entirely on TPR
and brain-compatible instruction, inspired by numerous
workshops that Jason has provided throughout the southeast.
Jason began learning foreign scripts and languages at the age
of 12 and continued his studies through high school and
college courses. This deeply personal experience with
languages has had a profound effect on his teaching
philosophy, and one of his primary goals as a teacher is to
share his experience with other learners through natural,
zero-stress methods that produce real proficiency. |
